Coronado National Forest Heritage Society

Preserving Heritage.
Fostering Partnerships.

We safeguard the cultural and natural heritage of the Coronado National Forest through preservation, interpretation, and collaboration with two partner chapters in southern Arizona.

Our Mission

Heritage, kept alive on the land it came from.

The Coronado National Forest Heritage Society safeguards the cultural and natural heritage of the Coronado National Forest through preservation, interpretation, and collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service and partner organizations.

We act as the parent 501(c)(3) for two volunteer-led chapters that care for historically significant sites in the Santa Rita and Huachuca Mountains. Together, they bring early Arizona mining and ranching history to life for the next generation of visitors.

What We Do

Four programs, one shared landscape.

  • Site Stewardship

Hands-on care of historic structures, trails, and grounds at our partner sites in the Santa Rita and Huachuca Mountains.

  • Interpretation & Education

Public tours, school visits, and signage that bring early Arizona mining and ranching history to forest visitors.

  • Partnership Coordination

Sustained collaboration with the Coronado National Forest, Arizona Trails Association, and other heritage partners.

  • Volunteer Service Days

Workdays where volunteers help with preservation projects, maintenance, hosting, and special events.

Our Chapters

Two volunteer-led chapters, one mission.

Membership, donations, and volunteering for the Heritage Society are coordinated through the two chapters below. Each chapter operates its own site and welcomes new supporters.

Volunteer With Us

Help preserve the places that tell Arizona's story.

Volunteers are the backbone of our chapters. Whether you'd like to help on a workday, host visitors, or contribute professional skills, sign up directly through the chapter closest to the work you want to do.
